Against Photography

This may look like an anti-McCain, pro-Obama post, but it’s not. It’s about the fundamental unfairness of frozen in mid-gesture photography. Sen. McCain was in this unflattering posture for, what, half a second? But now here he is, stuck in it for eternity, looking like a much bigger doofus than he actually did in real time. Perhaps we should go back to sketch artists, like we use in courtrooms.  EDIT:  He really looks like a gargoyle in this picture, doesn’t he?

Jeff, where did you find this picture? I agree, he does look more like a gargoyle than usual here. I thought McCain had two suppressed burps while speaking last night—-maybe acid reflux? He certainly looked bilious—a favored word among some family members.

The picture comes from Andrew Sullivan’s blog. http://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/the_daily_dish/2008/10/face-of-the-d-9.html Sullivan is the source of 90% of all blog posts in America, the same way that 90% of all jokes come from beer salesmen and prisoners.

I thought I was pregnant once . . . but I was just billious! (julia child)

Jeff, I applaud your sense of balance here. McCain is easy to make fun of though. Obama ads are now taking a lot of clips from McCain. When they do it to Obama it drives us crazy.
