Girls & Computers–Feminization of the Internet

Are young women socialized from birth to see themselves as objects thereby giving them an edge at social networking & decorative arts on the internet?  Pat Gill, from the Institute for Communications Research & gender & women’s studies at Univ. of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, says they are in today’s NY Times article:

    this seems like a new arena to explore old differences that are most certainly social, not biological. You see the same thing with how much girls (in the aggregate) like to decorate and draw versus boys (in the aggregate). I actually think the most interesting part (because I am a law person) is the question about copyrighting a background or a glitter thing on your website. Are teen age girls going to start suing each other over glittery backgrounds?
